Yesterday was a great dress-up day with all the students in their jerseys! We also had an AWESOME turnout today for Barbie vs. Oppenheimer! Congratulations to all our good-looking winners! A reminder that all are welcome to join us tonight at the high school to watch our 9-12 girls play flag football and our 9-12 boys play some volleyball! We will start at 7 PM on the football field, and then head into the gym for volleyball afterwards. We hope to see you all there! Congratulations to all of our Homecoming Royalty! The Lake Park Audubon 2023 Homecoming King and Queen are Wyatt Simon and Laney Mattson! Thank you to everyone who helped put on the coronation today, especially the Student Council, our Tech Department, and our Media Studies class. Thank you to all who joined us in person and on our livestream to support these wonderful students!

A group of 7th & 8th-grade students in Mrs. Engum’s Coding Studio got to go on a field trip to Microsoft Fargo! We had the opportunity to hear from Microsoft employees & experts in the field, ask various questions, tour the beautiful campus, and eat some good food in their cafeteria! Special thanks to Pastor Matthew Engum and Assistant Principal Ben Hannasch for chaperoning, and, of course, to Microsoft Fargo for hosting us :)

Happy Homecoming Week! Tomorrow morning is our Homecoming Royalty Coronation! The public is welcome to join us at 10:45 AM in the Lake Park High School Theater, or to join us virtually as the event will also be livestreamed. Our candidates for King this year are: Drew Harris, Tyson Nerdahl, Wyatt Simon & Anton Wickenheiser. Our candidates for Queen are: Bailie Hostrup, Lylian Brandenburger, Laney Mattson and Erin Schauer. Our Junior Escorts are: Bernice Minske, Mia Voth, Tripp Eiter and Kale Thompson. The varsity volleyball team took 1st in the silver bracket at the Mahnomen-Waubun tournament this weekend. They went 2-2 on the day and beat both Mahnomen-Waubun and Cass Lake-Bena in close 3-set matches. Congrats Ladies!

Some Recent Highlights from Mrs. Capouchs' classes: Lavonne Askelson, 89 years old came to talk to her leadership class about what life was like In the 1940’s. Living in the good old days when life was simple. Her advanced PE class got out and on Kayaks a few weeks back at Stakke Lake. They had a blast checking out the scenery and soaking up the nice fall weather we have had.

Homecoming Week is just around the corner, and the LPA Student Council has been busy planning many fun events for the week! Homecoming Week is October 9-13th - We will have our Homecoming Court Coronation on Tuesday, Powderpuff & Peach Fuzz games on Wednesday, and our Friday the 13th Costume Homecoming Dance on Friday after the football game! We also have many fun dress-up days throughout the week and a school-wide pep rally on Friday afternoon. Find more details below! It was Mrs. Capouch's 8th-grade leadership class who thought of "cookies for kindness." She talked to our FACS teacher, Ms. Anderson, and asked if her classes could make as many cookies as possible if all of her students supplied the ingredients. The kids in her FACS class made chocolate chip cookies for two days. The kids in leadership class gave them out to people in the neighborhood yesterday and today. What tremendous teamwork and kindness our LPA kids and instructors demonstrated!

Some class highlights from a few classes of Mrs. Capouch. Her 8th grade leadership has been working hard helping bring tools and equipment into the new edition of shop class. They have also helped bring large items out of the school that needed to be thrown and have picked up trash around all the school grounds! The janitors are loving it! And After a week of a golf unit her advanced PE class, the students got to take their skills to Green Valley Golf course! It was a beautiful fall day and they had a lot of fun! Great Job Raiders!
