Hydration Nation: Leadership Hello, Hydration Nation is pairing up with Mrs. Capouch’s Leadership class. All money earned by Capouch’s 8th-grade Leadership class through donations and hydration drinks will be matched by an anonymous donor (up to $7,500) and put towards the Weight Room. The stand will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch hours. All drinks are $4 and a tip jar will be set out for weight room donations (make checks to LPA High school-memo weight room donation). If you can, please bring money from home to help raise money for the weight room.

Hello LPA Family and Community Members We have seen that Lake Park Middle/High School has a significant disadvantage when it comes to maintaining the physical fitness of its athletes and pupils. Our weight room is small and old, with equipment that either does not work or is too large and cumbersome to effectively exercise specific muscles. We only have one or two pairs of lighter-weight dumbbells (5 or 10 pounds) for our middle school classes. There is no cardiovascular equipment in our facility, including ellipticals or treadmills. There is one bicycle available for our ailing athletes or students to ride without resistance. Our PE teachers and coaches have seen tools from other schools, and to say that ours isn't up to par would be an understatement. This impacts not only our athletic programs and Physical Education courses but also the health of the community. Due to the limited size of our community, no other fitness center is accessible to our students, athletes, or members of the community. Despite our best efforts to utilize the resources at our disposal, there is an urgent requirement for modernized, secure, and efficient equipment. Our school district has a greater proportion of students living in poverty and has limited resources. Grants, community donations, and fundraising events are all avenues that we intend to investigate. We kindly request your support in any capacity—whether it be through a financial contribution, time volunteering, or knowledge of available grants—and appreciate your assistance in spreading the word. We have compiled an inventory of desired modifications. I have additionally included photographs to illustrate the present state of our weight room. Your time, consideration, and support are greatly appreciated. Please reach out to Kayla Capouch at kcapouch@lpa.k12.mn.us with any inquiries.

On Jan 10th, NHS led by Melanie Vickmark and an 8th-grade Leadership class taught by Kaila Capouch, plus a couple of girls basketball players headed up to Fargo to participate in Feed My Starving Children. Our crew of 34 packed rice and essential food for 2 hours. Our goal was to fill as many boxes as possible to be shipped to countries all over the world that are in poverty. Together there were a total of 1500 people including many schools who were felt inspired to make a difference. When our shift ended, we all gathered and were told we filled over 1500 boxes. This means 940 kids will be fed for a full year giving them HOPE for tomorrow.
