February Elementary Newsletter

Past the Halfway Point

Since last month’s newsletter we have turned the page on the halfway mark to the school year. Time has truly flown by inside the school for staff, and I hope it feels that way for your student(s) as well. We completed winter benchmarking over the past several weeks as a big picture check-in to see how our students are doing across all grade levels. This reaffirmed what our teachers have noticed on a classroom level, our students are making great gains and showing growth regardless of where they started the year. Adopting and implementation of new curriculums over the past 5 years have also changed our norm of where we typically expect students to be. Although there is always more work to be done, things continue to point in a positive direction. As you are reading this newsletter take time to reflect with your child(ren) and name the areas you each have seen growth this year and celebrate together.

On January 19th, we hosted our District Spelling Bee at the Elementary. Fifteen outstanding spellers participated in grades 4-8, along with classroom champions being named in 3rd grade. Congratulations to our Elementary Champion, Hannah Ziemann, in Mrs. Wilson’s 6th grade class!

The building project continues to generate excitement across the school and community. Currently you’ll notice the elevator shaft has been completed, and structural steel is being erected. By mid-February look for exterior walls to be assembled, with windows being installed in the month of March.
